Hey! My name is Greg

If you're getting this email that means we already had a connection. You likely came from on of my previous projects, Early Signals, Opening Attributes, or Data Independent.

The truth is, I had too many projects going on. I need to consolidate and do a great job at one thing rather than spread myself too thin.

This email channel (and domain) will be my new anchor point going forward.

Quick background on me:

I started my career at NetApp doing corporate FP&A. I realized I liked analytics, but not finance. I took Zipfian/Galvanize Data Science Bootcamp in '15 which changed my life

I led growth teams at Salesforce for Sales/Service Cloud. I'd sit with the product GMs who ran multi-billion dollar units of Salesforce and help them complete their product goals through data.

I left after 4 years, traveled with my girlfriend (now wife), and joined as the first business/operations hire at Digits (Fintech Series-C). If it involved a spreadsheet and the business, I was on it. Monetization, business model, green field research, product analytics, finance, even filled in as a interim PM for 6 months.

Since then I've been emerging and inundating myself with the world of LLMs.

My approach to AI

We know AI is going to be a big deal, but the part that really frustrates me is the hype and romantics.

I care about where the rubber meets the road, how will AI actually get used to create more value for users?

My emphasis is through a B2B AI lens.

How will AI tactically help businesses create more revenue or decreased expenses? This journey is all in service of one question:

How will businesses create more value for customers with AI?

I value specifics over imaginary. I cringe a bit when I hear "it'll be cool when..." or "It's getting crazy..." If you hear me say things these, give me a virtual slap.

What you can expect from me

My expertise and interest lie between The Model and Customer Value

The part that really jazzes me up is how to use AI for tangible value. I keep an eye out on everything behind the model, no doubt, but I'll let other experts report on that.

However, unlike other creators, I won't do:

  • News - Too much of a hamster wheel to keep up with
  • The latest research paper - Once research comes to the application layer I'll take interest
  • "1,023 ChatGPT prompts to 10x your efficiency"

You're in good company

As of mid October there are 3,075 people who are on my inner circle via this channel. While that may not seem like a ton compared to the 300K subscribers you may see elsewhere, I pride myself on great relationships with my followers.
